Alabama QB Tagovailoa tweets support for Hurts

Tua Tagovailoa took to social media Thursday to show support for fellow Alabama quarterback Jalen Hurts.

Tagovailoa, a freshman who came off the bench to lead the Crimson Tide to the national championship with a win against Georgia on Monday, told Alabama fans unhappy with Hurts’ performance that they should remember his contributions during the regular season.

“Tired of people not appreciating the fact that if (sic) this man led us to the National Championship,” Tagovailoa wrote on Twitter.

Hurts, a two-year starter and former SEC Offensive Player of the Year, responded:

Tagovailoa inherited a 13-0 deficit at the start of the third quarter but threw for three touchdowns to rally Alabama past Georgia. He finished 14 of 24 for 166 yards after Hurts, a sophomore with a 26-2 record for the Tide, had gone 3 of 8 for 21 yards.

Hurts has thrown for 4,926 yards, 40 touchdowns and 10 interceptions in two seasons. He also has run for 1,809 yards and 21 touchdowns.
