THIS WEEK: The third of 36 races on the season, the rest of the field will have to start figuring out if they have anything that can stop the Ford Fusion onslaught in general and Kevin Harvick in particular. … Harvick dominated at Atlanta last week, leading 181 of the 325 laps and cruising to his first victory at Atlanta and first of 2018. … Atlanta Motor Speedway is another of the so-called “cookie-cutter” tracks, a 1.5-mile D-shaped oval similar to the most popular style in NASCAR, which includes Texas, Charlotte, Kansas, Chicagoland, Kentucky and Atlanta, but each one of them is still unique. … Martin Truex Jr. won the race last year in his Toyota Camry, the first of his eight wins on the way to the championship. … Joey Logano leads the Cup standings with 89 points, followed by Ryan Blaney (83), Denny Hamlin (77), *Harvick (75), Clint Bowyer (74), *Austin Dillon (70), Truex (69), Kurt Busch (68), Paul Menard (66) and Aric Almirola (66).

THIS WEEK: This is the 22nd time the Trucks will race at Las Vegas and is the third of 23 races for the season, the third in a row to open the season before a two-week layoff. … Ben Rhodes won this race last year, his only victory in the series so far. … Brett Moffitt won last week’s race at Atlanta Motor Speedway but is only fifth in the standings after a DNF at the season-opener in Daytona. … After the two-week layoff, the Trucks will return at Martinsville Speedway on March 24. … *Johnny Sauter leads the Truck standings (106 points), followed by Matt Crafton (75), Grant Enfinger (73), Noah Gragson (67), Moffitt (66), Ben Rhodes (61), Dalton Sargeant (61), Spencer Davis (60), Joe Nemechek (59) and Justin Haley (55).
