Belgium's Elise Mertens and Belarus' Aryna Sabalenka worked double duty Saturday to advance to the final of the Samsung Open in Lugano, Switzerland.
Both had to win both quarterfinal and semifinal matches on the same day in the rain-delayed event.
Mertens, the tournament's second seed, got past Germany's Mona Barthel 6-4, 5-7, 7-6 (0) in the quarterfinals before dispatching Belarus' Vera Lapko 6-1, 4-6, 6-3 in the semifinals.
Sabalenka recorded a 6-3, 6-0 quarterfinal win over Italy's Camila Giorgio, then downed Switzerland's Stefanie Voegele 6-4, 6-2.
On Sunday, Mertens, 22, will be aiming for her third career WTA Tour title and second of the year. She captured the Hobart (Australia) International for the second consecutive season in January.
Sabalenka, 19, is seeking her first WTA Tour championship in her second final. She fell to Russia's Maria Sharapova for the title in Tianjin, China, last October.

Fifth-seeded Lara Arruabarrena of Spain downed a fatigued Slovenia's Dalia Jakupovic 6-1, 6-2 to advance to the final in Bogota, Colombia.
Earlier in the day, Jakupovic was forced to play her weather-delayed quarterfinal, and she defeated second-seeded Madga Linette of Poland 6-3, 3-6, 6-1.
Arruabarrena's championship-round opponent will be Slovakia's Anna Karolina Schmiedlova, who upset seventh-seeded Ana Bogdan of Romania 6-3, 6-2 in the semis.
Schmiedlova, 23, posted both of her career WTA Tour titles in 2015.
Arruabarrena, 26, is in the Bogota final for the third time. She won the crown in 2012 but fell in the last match in 2017. Her only other WTA Tour championship came in 2016 at Seoul, South Korea.
