North Carolina State senior guard Eric Lockett was arrested Thursday morning and charged with assaulting a female.
Lockett, 23, allegedly struck a woman in the face on Tuesday, according to arrest records from the Raleigh (N.C.) Police Department.
Lockett, a graduate transfer who played at George Mason in 2014-15 and two seasons at Florida International in 2016-17 and 2017-18, has been suspended from the team.
“In light of his arrest this morning, Eric Lockett has been indefinitely suspended from our team,” Wolfpack coach Kevin Keatts said in a statement. “We will await additional information and will have no further comment at the current time.”
Lockett has appeared in 22 games (two starts) this season, averaging 5.0 points, 3.3 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game.
Lockett did not participate in Wednesday’s victory against Syracuse. At the time, the team said he was dealing with a “personal matter.”
During his court appearance Thursday morning, a judge ordered Lockett to have no contact with the alleged victim, WTVD reported.
