Top 25 roundup: No. 2 Virginia dumps Wake Forest

Kyle Guy scored 17 points and De’Andre Hunter had 16 points as second-ranked Virginia finally put away stubborn Wake Forest for a 59-49 victory Sunday in Winston-Salem, N.C.

Devon Hall added 12 points for the Cavaliers (18-1, 7-0 Atlantic Coast Conference), who have won 10 consecutive games. Hall made four free throws in the last 64 seconds as part of the team’s 6-for-6 effort at the line down the stretch.

Wake Forest (8-11, 1-6) lost its fifth game in a row. The Demon Deacons, who were held to a season-low point total, got 11 points from Bryant Crawford and 10 apiece from Brandon Childress and Mitchell Wilbekin.

No. 23 Michigan 62, Rutgers 47

Moritz Wagner had 16 points to lead the Wolverines to a win over the Scarlet Knights in Ann Arbor, Mich.

Michigan (17-5, 6-3 Big Ten) was in control throughout and steadily built a sizeable lead, ultimately going up by 54-39 with 5:41 remaining on a 3-pointer by Wagner and then by 17 with under a minute left.

Duncan Robinson scored 12 points on 4-of-8 shooting from 3-point range for Michigan. Corey Sanders scored 12 points and Deshawn Freeman had 11 points and 11 rebounds to lead Rutgers (12-9, 2-6).

No. 25 Miami 86, North Carolina State 81

Bruce Brown Jr. scored 19 points and contributed to the Hurricanes’ 10-for-19 shooting from 3-point range in a victory over the Wolfpack in Raleigh, N.C.

Anthony Lawrence II and Ebuka Izundu both scored 15 points and Lonnie Walker IV added 12 points for Miami (14-4, 3-3 ACC). Brown shot 3-for-3 on 3-pointers and also distributed nine assists.

N.C. State’s Omer Yurtseven racked up 28 points, shooting 12-for-16 from the field, and Markell Johnson had 14 assists. Torin Dorn and Allerik Freeman both scored 13 points and Braxton Beverly poured in 10 for the Wolfpack (13-7, 3-4), which lost for the first time in four ACC home games.
