The Heisman Trophy awarded to former Notre Dame receiver Tim Brown after the 1987 season is set to be sold at auction beginning later this month, according to ESPN.
Brown, who went on to a Hall of Fame career spent mostly with the Los Angeles/Oakland Raiders, won’t receive any of the proceeds as he sold the trophy to an unnamed buyer last year.
He was the first wide receiver to win the award, earning the honor after a season that saw him gain 990 yards from scrimmage with four touchdowns and return three punts for touchdowns on 34 returns.
The Irish went 8-4 that season, which ended with a loss to Texas A&M in the Cotton Bowl.
Goldin Auctions will host the sale. Bids will be taken from Nov. 19 through Dec. 8.
