Pacers sign Wesley Matthews

Shooting guard Wesley Matthews has signed with the Indiana Pacers as a free agent, the team announced Sunday.
After being traded to New York, Matthews and the Knicks agreed to a contract buyout that made him a free agent Thursday. According to multiple reports, Matthews quickly agreed to join the Pacers, who still are reeling from the scoring and leadership loss of Victor Oladipo. Oladipo went down with a season-ending quadriceps injury last month.
“We’re excited to welcome Wesley to the Pacers,” said Pacers president Kevin Pritchard in the team’s statement. “He’s a solid professional who we feel strongly will help us the remainder of the season and into the playoffs. When we looked at possible players to bring in, he fit in well with what we are trying to accomplish here on the court, in the locker room and off the court.”
Terms of the deal were not available.
Acquired Jan. 31 from the Mavericks in the trade that sent Kristaps Porzingis to Dallas, Matthews averaged 13.1 points per game in 44 starts for Dallas this season.
The 32-year-old spent one season in Utah before he played with the Portland Trail Blazers from 2010-2015. Matthews joined the Mavericks as a free agent in 2015 and spent three-and-a-half seasons in Dallas.
He’s a career 38.2 percent shooter from 3-point range.
He played two games with the Knicks after being acquired from Dallas.
