Martavis Bryant — long the speculation of trade rumors — was sent by the Pittsburgh Steelers to the Oakland Raiders on Thursday during the NFL Draft for a third-round pick in this year’s draft, No. 75 overall.
The sometimes troubled wide receiver will get a fresh start with a team known for looking the other way with brash talents as long as they perform on the field.
And the fourth-round pick out of Clemson in 2014 showed talent in the 2014 and 2015 seasons, scoring 15 touchdowns in his first 21 games despite being a secondary option on a team loaded with offensive talent.
But he was suspended for all of 2016 for violating the NFL’s substance-abuse policy, and in 2017 was benched and even demoted to the scout team in favor of JuJu Smith-Schuster. Bryant finished the season 603 yards on 50 catches with three touchdowns.
He has never started every game in a season.
For his career, Bryant has 17 TDs and 1,917 yards receiving on 126 receptions.
