The Cleveland Cavaliers plan to start newly-acquired Jae Crowder at power forward and Kevin Love at center, with Tristan Thompson expected to come off the bench, according to multiple reports.
Crowder was acquired from Boston in the deal that also brought Isaiah Thomas to Cleveland and sent Kyrie Irving to the Celtics. Crowder’s presence is expected to improve the overall defense, while Love will slide to center to take advantage of the matchup problems his shooting range creates.
Thompson reportedly has been told of the plans and has accepted the new role. He started all 96 regular-season and playoff games for the Cavs last season. The former No. 4 overall pick has started all but five games over the past three regular seasons.
