Buffalo Sabres defenseman Zach Bogosian will miss four to six weeks with an injury to his lower left leg, coach Phil Housley said Thursday.
Bogosian was hurt in practice Tuesday at KeyBank Center in Buffalo while battling for the puck along the boards with forward Evander Kane. Bogosian fell awkwardly and was unable to put any weight on the leg while being helped off the ice.
Bogosian has one assist and is averaging about 19 minutes of playing time in 18 games since missing the first two months of the NHL season with a lower body injury.
“You know it was weird, we were just kind of battling and got tangled up and we were both falling and obviously he was in some discomfort and just kind of a freak accident,” Kane told the Buffalo News. “I’ve played with him my whole career and he’s had some tough breaks; hopefully this one is (not) too bad and he’ll be back out there soon.”
