Spurs decline to match Grizzlies’ bid for F Anderson

Forward Kyle Anderson officially became a member of the Memphis Grizzlies at 12:01 a.m. ET on Monday when the San Antonio Spurs refused to match his offer sheet, multiple media outlets reported.

The 24-year-old restricted free agent signed a four-year, $37.2 million deal with the Grizzlies last week. The Spurs had until midnight Saturday night to match the offer and retain him, but they reportedly decided against doing so.

A defensive specialist, Anderson is expected to move right from San Antonio’s starting lineup to Memphis’ starting five.

Last season, Anderson averaged career highs in all major statistical categories: 7.9 points, 5.4 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 1.6 steals and 0.8 blocks in 74 games (67 starts). He had started a total of just 33 games in his previous three NBA seasons.

The Spurs selected him 30th overall in the 2014 draft after he played two seasons at UCLA.
