The Minnesota Twins and versatile Marwin Gonzalez agreed on a two-year, $21 million contract on Friday, according to multiple reports. Gonzalez will reportedly receive $12 million this season and $9 million in 2020. The deal is pending Gonzalez passing a physical. Gonzalez spent the past seven seasons with the Houston Astros and was a key figure on the club’s 2017 World Series championship team. He established career highs of a .303 average and 23 homers and 90 RBIs in 134 games that season. Last season, Gonzalez batted .247 with 16 homers and 68 RBIs in 145 games. He stepped it up in the postseason by batting .333 with two homers and nine RBIs in eight games. Gonzalez, who turns 30 on March 14, has played more than 90 career games at five positions — shortstop, first base, left field, second base and third base. Overall, Gonzalez has a .264 average with 76 homers and 292 RBIs in 795 career contests. –Field Level Media
