Southern Cal wide receiver Joseph Lewis was arrested on suspicion of domestic abuse charges Monday afternoon and suspended from the team.
Lewis, who had four catches in 2017 as a freshman, was taken into custody on Monday afternoon with bail set at $50,000.
Lewis was scheduled Tuesday for a hearing on suspicion of corporal injury on a spouse or cohabitant charges.
“USC takes all reports of domestic abuse seriously and is cooperating fully with the law enforcement investigation,” the school said in a statement. “While this student code of conduct issue is being investigated, the student has been suspended from all football-related activities. Student disciplinary records and student conduct proceedings are confidential at USC and protected by law.”
He was a four-star recruit and ranked one of the top 10 wide receivers by the majority of recruiting services in the 2017 recruiting class.
