Virginia Tech suspended senior Chris Clarke indefinitely for unspecified reasons.
The 6-foot-6 forward was runner-up in the Atlantic Coast Conference’s Sixth Man of the Year voting in 2017-18 and was expected to start for the 15th-ranked Hokies in 2018-19.
The school announced the suspension and removed his name from the team’s roster.
Clarke was part of the Virginia Tech delegation at last week’s ACC media day in Charlotte, N.C.
Clarke averaged 8.2 points and a team-high 6.3 rebounds in 24.6 minutes per game last season, appearing in 33 games off the bench. He finished second on the Hokies in assists (98) and steals (31).
He averaged career highs of 11.4 points and 7.3 rebounds while starting 19 of his 24 games as a 2016-17 sophomore.
Virginia Tech opens its season on Nov. 9 at home against Gardner-Webb.
