Alabama clear No. 1; Wazzu, Auburn crack Top 10

Alabama and Clemson remained atop this week’s AP Top 25 poll, with Penn State moving up one spot to No. 3 following Oklahoma’s loss on Saturday.

The Crimson Tide are comfortably atop the rankings with 43 first-place votes, with the Tigers earning the other 18 first-place votes.

No. 4 Georgia and No. 5 Washington each moved up one spot as well, followed by TCU and Wisconsin. Washington State moved into the Top 10 at No. 8 after a convincing victory at Oregon, while Ohio State climbed a spot to No. 9. Auburn cracked the Top 10 for the first time this season.

Miami is No. 11 after its dramatic victory at Florida State, with Oklahoma dropping nine spots to No. 12, followed by USC, Oklahoma State and Virginia Tech. Notre Dame climbed five spots to No. 16, with Michigan No. 17 following its loss to Michigan State.

USF is 18th, followed by San Diego State and NC State. Michigan State entered the rankings at No. 21, with the Top 25 rounded out with UCF, Stanford, Texas Tech and Navy.

Penn State’s ranking is the program’s highest since 2008. The Big Ten leads all conferences with five teams in this week’s rankings.
