Dallas Wings star rookie guard Paige Bueckers missed Thursday’s practice with a back injury and is listed as questionable for Friday’s home game against the New York Liberty.
Bueckers injured her back during the third quarter of Tuesday’s game against the Liberty in the first of a home-and-home set. She later returned but indicated after the contest that her back was bothering her.
“I think it’s just a pulled muscle. I felt a strain, felt it tighten,” Bueckers said after the contest.
Bueckers underwent treatment Thursday and coach Chris Koclanes liked her progress.
“Just rest, day-to-day,” Koclanes said. “She should be fine for tomorrow.”
Bueckers, 23, had 21 points and eight rebounds against the Liberty on Tuesday. She has recorded four consecutive 20-point outings and has 13 on the season.
The No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 draft is averaging 18.6 points, 5.4 assists and 4.1 rebounds in 24 games.
