Alabama LB Anoma not enrolled in school

Alabama could begin training camp without Eyabi Anoma, a linebacker expected to be a contributor in his sophomore season with the Crimson Tide.

Anoma, a five-star prospect in the Class of 2018, is not enrolled in classes at Alabama, the school confirmed.

The school’s summer session runs through July 31, with finals later next week. The fall semester begins Aug. 21.

Preseason camp begins next weekend in Tuscaloosa, and enrollment in fall classes is a requirement for all players.

Anoma was ranked as the No. 4 player in the nation in the 2018 class, according to the 247Sports composite. Last fall, he appeared in 12 games and made nine tackles.

In February, he entered his name in the NCAA transfer portal but withdrew it a day later.

Coach Nick Saban had this to say about Anoma in March:

“He’s doing a good job. He’s working hard. He’s learning a lot. … He’s doing much better in school. Being responsible and trying to do the right things and respond to people the right way,” Saban said.

“He’s certainly making a very positive contribution to the defense. I certainly think that’s our expectation for him, and if he continues this way, I’m sure he’s going to make a huge impact.”

Anoma was named to the All-SEC Freshman Team selection by league coaches last fall.
