Tamika Catchings steps down as Fever GM

Hall of Famer Tamika Catchings stepped down as vice president of basketball operations and general manager of the Indiana Fever on Monday after two years.

The club named former Fever coach Lin Dunn its interim GM.

Catchings, 42, played her entire 15-year career in Indiana. She was a five-time WNBA Defensive Player of the Year winner, was named league MVP in 2011 and won the WNBA championship in 2012. She also is a four-time Olympic gold medalist.

Catchings was inducted into the James Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2020 and joined the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame in 2021.

She retired from playing in 2016 and took on an advisory role with the Fever in 2017 before being named GM in January 2020.

“For more than 30 years, this game I love has been a very pivotal part of my life,” Catchings said in a statement. “While change is never easy, now it’s time to take a step back from my role as general manager, take a well-earned rest, and prioritize my family, my philanthropy, our community and other passions.

“I’m excited for all that’s on the horizon, but whatever comes next I will always be a part of the Fever family.”

Dunn led the team to 2012 WNBA title and three total WNBA Finals appearances 2008-14.
