Angel Reese, an All-Big Ten selection at Maryland last season, is transferring to LSU.
“Angel is coming to Baton Rouge as one of the most dynamic players in the country,” Tigers coach Kim Mulkey said. “She’s an outstanding scorer with a knack for rebounding that will make an immediate impact in our frontcourt.”
As a sophomore last season, Reese was the top scorer (17.8 points per game) and rebounder (10.6) for a Terrapins team that reached the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament. She was the first Maryland player to average a double-double since 1975.
Reese was the No. 2 player overall in the Class of 2020.
“I chose LSU and Kim Mulkey because of the winning culture,” Reese said. “I trust in Coach Kim and her staff to help develop me into the player I need to be for the next level. Her resume speaks for itself and I want to continue that here at LSU.”
Mulkey, who led Baylor to three national championships, returned to her home state as LSU’s coach before the 2021-22 season. She helped turn the Tigers from a nine-win team into one that finished 26-6 last season.
