With Selection Sunday just five weeks away, Baylor is the projected No. 1 overall seed in this year’s NCAA Tournament, the selection committee announced Saturday.
The Bears were chosen in the committee’s first in-season reveal. Baylor is projected to be placed in the South region.
Also predicted to be No. 1 seeds are Gonzaga (West), Kansas (Midwest) and undefeated San Diego State (East).
Overall, the top 16 seeds were projected.
Joining San Diego State in the projected East are Duke (2 seed), Maryland (3) and Butler (4). The regional final is in New York City.
With Baylor in the South are Louisville (2), Seton Hall (3) and Auburn (4). That regional final is in Houston.
Los Angeles is the host of the West regional final. Gonzaga is joined by West Virginia (2), Villanova (3) and Oregon (4).
The Midwest regional final is in Indianapolis. Dayton (2), Florida State (3) and Michigan State (4) are projected to join Kansas.
The Final Four is in Atlanta. The national championship game is scheduled to be played Monday, April 6.
