PARIVISION outlasted Aurora Gaming 3-2 in the best-of-five grand final to win the title at the $1 million DreamLeague Season 29 online event on Sunday.
PARIVISION, which ran through the upper playoff bracket but needed three straight 2-1 victories to get to the grand final, will take home the grand prize of $250,000 plus an additional $40,000 club reward and 6,300 ESL Pro Tour points.
Aurora Gaming defeated Team Spirit 2-0 in the lower-bracket final earlier in the day to reach the grand final, but will settle for second place and a $100,000 prize.
Sixteen teams began the Dota 2 tournament on May 13. The top four finishers from Group A and Group B moved into the upper-bracket playoffs, with the fifth- and sixth-place finishers advancing to the lower bracket.
The double-elimination playoffs began Tuesday; all matches were best-of-three until the best-of-five grand final.
PARIVISION, who played the entire match on green, opened the grand final with a 40-minute win, but Aurora (red) countered with a win in 48 minutes. They went back and forth a second time, with PARIVISION’s 56-minute win being matched by Aurora prevailing in 45 minutes in the fourth map.
But the fifth map was also the quickest, as PARIVISION took care of business in 38 minutes. Alan “Satanic” Gallyamov of Russia had an 8-0-7 kills-deaths-assists ratio on the final map to aid PARIVISION’s victory.
Earlier, Aurora defeated Spirit in 30 minutes on green and 67 minutes on red. Chung “Ws” Wei Shen of Malaysia racked up an average K-D-A of 16.5-4.0-13.0 for Aurora.
