THIS WEEK: The series cut its playoff field from 16 to 12 after Bristol, where Kyle Larson was the winner. That sets up the Round of 12 over the next three races to make the Round of 8, starting with Las Vegas. ... A win over the next three races gets a driver already in the playoffs into the next round. ... This is the 30th of 36 races on the season. ... This will be the 28th race at the track, with Larson winning here in March. Kurt Busch won this race last year. Larson won at a Bristol race that saw plenty of action -- and wrecks. But he stayed out of trouble and the altercations. "I'm 5-foot-6, 135 pounds. I'm not going to get too wound up about anything," he said. ... Aric Almirola, Kurt Busch, Tyler Reddick and Michael McDowell were eliminated from the playoffs. ... Larson leads the points with 3,059, followed by Martin Truex Jr. (3,029), Denny Hamlin (3,024), Ryan Blaney (3,024), Kyle Busch (3,022), Chase Elliott (3,021), Alex Bowman (3,015), William Byron (3,014), Joey Logano (3,013), Brad Keselowski (3,008), Christopher Bell (3,005) and Kevin Harvick (3,002).
BEST BETS: Kyle Larson is the favorite at 7/2, with hometown boy Kyle Busch at 6/1. Denny Hamlin is 7/1, Chase Elliott 8/1 with Martin Truex Jr. at 9/1 the last driver at better than 10/1. Kurt Busch, Kyle's older brother, is certainly worth a look at 25/1, and Aric Almirola is a good flyer at 60/1.
