Chicago Cubs left-hander Justin Steele is headed to the 15-day injured list with tendinitis in his pitching elbow.
The move is retroactive to Tuesday, one day after Steele scattered three hits and struck out eight batters over seven scoreless innings in a 7-0 romp over the Texas Rangers.
Steele, 29, is 3-1 with a 4.76 ERA in four starts this season.
An All-Star in 2023, Steele owns a 32-22 record with a 3.30 ERA in 102 career games (91 starts) with Chicago.
Right-hander Ethan Roberts was recalled from Triple-A Iowa, where he has allowed four hits over 4 1/3 scoreless innings this season.
Roberts, 27, is 1-2 with a 4.72 ERA in 30 career relief appearances with the Cubs.
