Marlins Reds

Rookie Rece Hinds hit two more home runs for the Cincinnati Reds in a 10-6 win against the visiting Miami Marlins in the middle game of their three-game series on Saturday afternoon.

Hinds has five home runs in six games since he was recalled from Triple-A Louisville on Monday. Hinds has nine extra-base hits in all, which are more than any other player in his first six major league games.

Spencer Steer, Elly De La Cruz, Jeimer Candelario and Santiago Espinal also homered for the Reds, who have won three in a row.

Cincinnati left-hander Andrew Abbott allowed five runs and seven hits in 3 1/3 innings, striking out four and walking two in his first attempt at his 10th win of the season.

Sam Moll (1-1), the third of eight Reds pitchers, earned the win in relief.

Jake Burger had four hits, including a two-run homer, and drove in four runs, and Josh Bell had a solo homer and RBI double for Miami, which has lost five in a row.

Marlins starter Edward Cabrera (1-3) allowed seven runs and six hits in 3 1/3 innings. He struck out seven and didn’t walk a batter.

Steer sent the second pitch of the second inning over the fence in left for a 1-0 lead. Steer has five home runs in the past 10 games and 15 overall.

The Marlins came back with three runs in the third.

Jazz Chisholm Jr. singled with one out before Burger swung at a 3-0 pitch and blasted a two-run homer to left to move Miami ahead 2-1.

Bell then went deep on another 3-0 pitch to extend the lead to 3-1.

Cincinnati answered with three solo home runs in the bottom half of the inning to move back ahead 4-3.

Hinds cut it to 3-2 with his first homer of the day. After back-to-back strikeouts, De La Cruz and Candelario hit back-to-back homers to give the Reds a 4-3 lead.

Miami retook the lead in the fourth on a two-run single by Burger that made it 5-4.

The Reds came back with three runs in the fourth, the first on a groundout, the second on a passed ball and the third on a single by Espinal for a 7-5 lead.

Bell’s RBI double in the sixth trimmed the deficit to 7-6, but Hinds hit a two-run homer and Espinal added a solo shot in the bottom of the inning to extend the lead back to 10-6.
