Infielder Jose Iglesias and the San Diego Padres have agreed to a minor league contract, MLB.com reported on Wednesday.
Iglesias, 35, will receive an invitation to training camp and bid for a place on the team’s Opening Day roster.
He batted .337 with four homers and 26 RBIs in 85 games last season with the New York Mets.
An All-Star with the Detroit Tigers in 2015, Iglesias is a career .283 hitter with 51 homers and 392 RBIs in 1,181 games with seven teams.
Iglesias batted .317 with four homers and 27 RBIs in 28 games in 2023 with Triple-A El Paso, the Padres’ minor league affiliate.
