The Colorado Rockies acquired right-hander Cal Quantrill from the Cleveland Guardians on Friday.
The Guardians received minor league catcher Kody Huff in exchange.
The Rockies designated right-hander Tommy Doyle for assignment to clear room for Quantrill on the 40-man roster.
Quantrill, 28, was a 15-game winner for Cleveland in 2022 but slumped to 4-7 with a 5.24 ERA in 19 starts in 2023.
He is 35-23 with a 3.83 ERA in 132 games (94 starts) with the San Diego Padres (2019-20) and Cleveland (2020-23).
Huff, 22, batted .262 with five homers and 36 RBIs in 86 games last season at Class A Fresno.
Doyle, 27, was 0-1 with a 6.85 ERA in 15 appearances out of the Colorado bullpen in 2023.
