The Chicago White Sox placed right-hander Drew Thorpe on the 15-day injured list Friday with a right flexor strain.
The 23-year-old rookie is 3-3 with a 5.48 ERA and a .212 opponents’ batting average in nine starts since his June 11 debut.
The White Sox recalled right-hander Prelander Berroa from Triple-A Charlotte to replace Thorpe on the active roster.
Berroa, 24, is 3-5 with a 6.69 ERA and 45 strikeouts in 37 relief appearances this season at Charlotte.
Berroa also made one appearance for the White Sox, retiring one batter in a 6-5 loss to Minnesota on April 30.
