Charlotte FC acquired defender Souleyman Doumbia on loan Wednesday from Belgian Pro League side Standard Liege.
The 28-year-old from the Ivory Coast arrives for the 2025 MLS season after making more than 200 pro appearances across Europe.
“Left back was one of the positions we needed to strengthen this transfer window, and we’re delighted to welcome Souleyman to Charlotte FC,” general manager Zoran Krneta said. “He brings experience from top European leagues like Ligue 1 and the Belgian Pro League, and his versatility and technical ability make him a great addition to our back line.”
In addition to Standard Liege, Doumbia has played for French clubs Angers and Rennes, Switzerland’s Grasshoppers and Italy’s Bari and Vicenza since coming up through the Paris Saint-Germain system.
