New York City FC on Monday transferred midfielder Nicolas Acevedo on a permanent basis to Brazilian Serie A side Esporte Clube Bahia.
NYCFC received an undisclosed fee and will get a percentage of future transfer fees if he is sold to another club.
Acevedo, 25, has been on loan to Bahia since the 2023 season and sustained an ACL injury in his right knee at the end of the first season. He made seven appearances this year.
A native of Uruguay, Acevedo played in 67 games (43 starts) for NYCFC from 2020-22 and was a member of the MLS Cup champions in 2021 and the Campeones Cup winners in 2022.
