Bulls rally past Nets thanks to Coby White’s big night

Nets, Bulls

Coby White scored 31 points as the Chicago Bulls earned a fourth straight win by beating the visiting Brooklyn Nets 116-110 on Thursday night.

The Bulls won for the sixth time in nine games and earned a fourth straight victory for the first time since December 2023 thanks to White, who produced his fourth 30-point showing this season.

A week after scoring 44 against the Orlando Magic, White made 12 of 24 shots as the Bulls rallied from a 10-point, fourth-quarter deficit by shooting 57.9 points in final period.

Kevin Huerter added 18 points, including the go-ahead putback around Brooklyn center Nic Claxton that broke a 101-101 tie with 3:54 left. He also converted two three-point plays in a span of 33 seconds to put Chicago ahead 113-105 with 1:05 left.

The Bulls’ Tre Jones also contributed 18 to go along with seven rebounds and six assists in place of Josh Giddey, who sprained his ankle Monday and sat out. Julian Phillps chipped in with 16 for Chicago, which shot 45.6 percent from the floor.

Cam Thomas scored 24 for the Nets, who lost for the ninth time in 10 games and blew a double-digit lead for the third time in four games. Tyrese Martin added 19 points and Claxton collected 18 points and 14 rebounds for the Nets.

Cameron Johnson tallied 16 points and Ziaire Williams finished with 11 as the Nets got only four points from D’Angelo Russell and shot 44.8 percent as a team.

After Huerter’s three-point plays, the Nets got the lead down to 114-110 on a short jumper by Claxton with 16.3 seconds left, but Phillips finished it off at the line for Chicago.

After allowing the game’s first eight points, the Bulls chipped away and held a 31-30 lead through the opening quarter on a hook shot by Williams right before the buzzer. Williams and Thomas sank 3s on consecutive possessions for a 50-43 lead with 5:06 left and the Nets held a 65-62 edge by halftime.

Johnson’s 19-footer opened a 74-64 lead midway through the third quarter as the Nets took a 92-82 lead into the fourth. White scored seven straight points and his 12-footer got Chicago within 92-91 a little over three minutes in before the Bulls surged ahead down the stretch.
