The Boston Celtics will be without two of their stars in a battle of the top two teams in the Eastern Conference, as Jaylen Brown and Kristaps Porzingis will miss Wednesday night’s game against the host Philadelphia 76ers.
Brown is out due to a non-COVID illness, while Porzingis will be sidelined because of a right knee contusion.
Philadelphia star Joel Embiid was in danger of missing the game due to left hip soreness, but he will be active.
After signing a five-year, $303.7 million supermax extension this offseason — the richest deal in league history — the 27-year-old Brown is averaging 22.9 points, 5.2 rebounds and 3.2 assists through 10 games this season.
Porzingis, 28, is averaging 19.7 points, 6.2 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.3 blocks across 10 games. He is in his first season with Boston after being acquired from the Washington Wizards via trade in June.
Both the Celtics and Sixers are 8-2 entering Wednesday.
