Pistons Hawks

Trae Young scored the winning basket with 1.6 seconds left as the visiting Atlanta Hawks snapped an eight-game losing streak with a 132-130 victory over Detroit on Monday night.

Young led Atlanta with 34 points and nine assists. De’Andre Hunter had 20 points, and Dyson Daniels supplied 19 points, seven assists, six rebounds, four steals and three blocks. Zaccharie Risacher added 17 points.

Cade Cunningham’s 30 points and 14 assists led Detroit. Tobias Harris had 22 points, while Jalen Duren and Malik Beasley tossed in 18 apiece.

Young had 15 points and five assists in the first half as the Hawks raced to a 73-64 halftime lead.

The Hawks took their biggest lead of the half at 71-57 with a 13-3 run.

A 3-pointer by Beasley in the closing seconds allowed Detroit to cut the Hawks’ advantage to single digits.

It took less than 2 1/2 minutes for the Pistons to erase Atlanta’s halftime lead. Detroit started the second half on a 13-2 run, which included five points and an assist from Cunningham.

Neither side led by more than three points until Larry Nance Jr. drained a 3-pointer with 2:19 left in the quarter to put Atlanta up 98-94. The Hawks were ahead 101-98 when the quarter ended.

Atlanta asserted control early in the fourth. The Hawks began the quarter with a 12-3 run. Nance sparked it with a basket and two assists, while Risacher had five points.

Detroit pulled within five points before Young tried to carry his team to the finish line. He scored the Hawks’ next 11 points to make it 124-117, but the Pistons still wouldn’t crack.

Detroit scored the next nine points, including two field goals from Harris, to briefly take the lead.

Young answered with a 3-pointer. He later split free throws with 34 seconds left to give Atlanta a 130-128 lead. Cunningham’s layup with 27 seconds left tied it.

Young then knocked down a long two-pointer with the shot clock about to expire. The Pistons didn’t get a shot off on their final possession.
