Anthony Davis scored 31 points with nine rebounds and LeBron James scored 21 points in his second triple-double of the season as the Los Angeles Lakers returned home from a rough road trip to earn a 116-106 victory Friday over the Philadelphia 76ers.
Austin Reaves added 20 points for the Lakers, while James delivered a season-high 13 assists with 12 rebounds for his 114th career triple-double. Reaves was 6 of 10 from 3-point range.
D’Angelo Russell scored 18 points as Los Angeles improved to 4-0 at home. After eight starts to open the season, Russell came off the bench as Cam Reddish started and scored three points on one shot with five rebounds in 28 minutes.
The Lakers went 1-4 on a road trip that ended Wednesday.
Jared McCain scored 18 points, while Guerschon Yabusele added 14 for the 76ers, who lost their fifth consecutive game and fell to 1-7 on the season without star Joel Embiid. Andre Drummond had 14 points and 12 rebounds for Philadelphia, while Caleb Martin had 13 points.
After missing the first six games of the season with a knee injury, Embiid was serving the second game of a three-game suspension for an altercation with a newspaper columnist.
Paul George was limited to nine points on 4-of-13 shooting, including missing all six of his shots from long range, for the 76ers in his return to the arena where he played five seasons for the Los Angeles Clippers. George was playing in his third game for Philadelphia, all defeats on the road, after opening the season with his own knee injury.
The Lakers started fast, taking a 21-10 lead with 6:41 remaining in the first quarter. They ended the period with a 36-29 lead by shooting 60.9 percent from the floor. They finished the first half shooting 61.4 percent while taking a 68-60 advantage.
The 76ers’ defensive struggles continued as the Lakers led 96-81 through three quarters and barely were threatened the rest of the way.
Davis was 11 of 20 from the floor and scored at least 30 points for the sixth time in eight games.
