Milwaukee Bucks forward Khris Middleton has been diagnosed with a Grade 2 sprain of his left MCL and is expected to sit out the entire Eastern Conference second-round series against the Boston Celtics, The Athletic reported on Thursday.
Per the report, the recovery time for a Grade 2 sprain also puts Middleton’s availability for a potential conference finals appearance in jeopardy.
Third-seeded Milwaukee begins its second-round series at second-seeded Boston on Sunday afternoon.
Middleton, 30, sustained the injury during the fourth quarter of Game 2 in the Bucks’ first-round series against the Chicago Bulls on April 20. Milwaukee dispatched sixth-seeded Chicago in five games.
A three-time All-Star, Middleton averaged 20.1 points, 5.4 rebounds and 5.4 assists in 66 games this season.
