Freshman Dwayne Aristode, Arizona race past Northern Arizona

Freshman reserve Dwayne Aristode scored 15 of his game-high 18 points in the second half, leading the fifth-ranked Arizona to an 84-49 win over Northern Arizona on Tuesday in Tucson, Ariz.

Motiejus Krivas scored a season-high 12 points for the Wildcats (3-0), and Jaden Bradley added 13 points, three rebounds, three assists and two steals.

Krivas, who scored a total of 12 points in Arizona’s victories over No. 3 Florida and Utah Tech, made 5 of 7 shots from the field and converted both of his free-throw attempts. He also had four blocked shots and seven rebounds.

Aristode shot 6 of 10 from the field, 6 of 9 from 3-point range.

Arizona’s Tobe Awaka had 10 points and a team-high nine rebounds, and Koa Peat finished with 10 points and seven rebounds.

The Wildcats outrebounded Northern Arizona 45-32.

Northern Arizona (1-2) was led by Traivar Jackson’s 10 points.

The Lumberjacks’ only lead came when Zack Davidson scored five consecutive points, putting his team ahead 5-4 with 17:26 left in the first half.

Arizona answered with a 15-2 run to take a 12-point lead with 13:19 remaining until halftime.

A 22-2 run by Arizona, fueled by nine points from Bradley and six from Krivas, enabled the Wildcats to pull away.

Peat’s layup with 2:25 left in the half capped the run and gave Arizona a 43-13 lead.

Krivas continued to dominate early in the second half making three consecutive shots in the lane as part of an 8-0 run.

Aristode made five of his six 3-pointers over the last 10:43 of the game.

Northern Arizona shot 32.3% from the field overall, 25% (4 of 16) from 3-point range.

The Lumberjacks also committed 17 turnovers that led to 25 points for Arizona.

The Wildcats produced 22 assists toward their 28 shots made from the field.

Arizona freshman Ivan Kharchenkov did not score, but he led the Wildcats with three steals.
