Boise State preseason All-American running back Ashton Jeanty set school records of 267 rushing yards and six rushing touchdowns in the Broncos’ 56-45 victory over host Georgia Southern on Saturday.
Jeanty, who carried the ball 20 times, had a career-long 77-yard scoring run in the first quarter and a 75-yard touchdown run in the fourth. It marks the third time the junior has posted a 200-yard rushing game in his career.
“I’ve got to shout out my O-line,” Jeanty said afterward. “They opened up big, wide holes all game. I’ve got the easy part: Make some guys miss and go run to the end zone.”
Jeanty earned some first-team All-American honors last season when he rushed for 1,347 yards and 14 touchdowns and caught 43 passes for 569 yards and five scores. He was named Mountain West Offensive Player of the Year.
Jeanty gets a big-time test next Saturday when Boise State visits No. 3 Oregon.
