Las Vegas star center A’ja Wilson was ruled out of Sunday’s game against the host New York Liberty, marking the first game that she will miss in the last three seasons.
Wilson, who was not listed on the initial injury report, was seen sporting a walking boot on her right foot. The two-time WNBA MVP tweaked her right leg during the latter stages of the Aces’ 72-67 victory against the Connecticut Sun on Friday.
According to Aces head coach Becky Hammon, there are no long-term injury concerns with Wilson.
Sunday’s game is a rematch of the 2023 WNBA Finals. Las Vegas won the best-of-five series in four games, with Wilson being named the Finals MVP.
Wilson, 28, is averaging a WNBA-best 27.3 points and 2.7 blocks to go along with 11.9 rebounds and 1.9 steals in 34 games (all starts) this season.
A six-time All-Star, Wilson has averaged 21.0 points, 9.2 boards and 1.9 blocks in 223 career games (222 starts) with the Aces.
