The Cincinnati Bengals placed defensive end Cameron Sample on injured reserve and signed two defensive linemen among a slew of moves Wednesday.
Sample, 24, will miss the 2024 season with the torn Achilles he suffered during 11-on-11 drills during Monday’ practice. The move to IR during camp makes him ineligible to return during the regular season.
To bolster their line in Sample’s absence, the Bengals announced the signings of undrafted rookie DE Andre Carter and DT Joshua Pryor.
In corresponding moves, the Bengals waived punter Austin McNamara and wide receiver Tre Mosley.
Sample started two of his 17 games played last season, logging 29 tackles, 1 1/2 sacks and eight quarterback hits. In three seasons with the Bengals, he has 68 tackles, five sacks and 20 quarterback hits in 47 games (three starts).
Pryor played in seven games with the Washington Commanders last season.
Carter recorded 15 sacks in six seasons at Western Michigan and Indiana.
