Coco Gauff rebounded quickly following her split from Brad Gilbert by adding Matt Daly to her coaching team.
Daly joins Jean-Christophe “JC” Faurel in assisting Gauff, who parted ways with Gilbert last week.
Daly, 45, recently coached Canadian Denis Shapovalov on the ATP Tour last season.
“I’m really excited,” Gauff told WTA Insider on Thursday of the addition of Daly. “I think this is probably what it will look like next year, too. I’m super excited for a new change and hopefully to improve other parts of my game.
“Working with Brad was really great and obviously we had a great partnership. I think it was just time to do a reset, a refresh, and add some things in my game that I felt like I need to do to have a better season next year.”
Considered one of the sport’s top coaches and analysts, Gilbert, 63, joined Gauff’s team in July 2023 and soon after became her head coach. Gauff, 20, reached a career-high world ranking of No. 2 in June under Gilbert’s coaching.
However, the relationship had seen some public strain in recent months, with Gauff calling out her coaching team after a tough loss to No. 19 seed Emma Navarro at Wimbledon.
