Mathieu Olivier had two goals and an assist for the Columbus Blue Jackets in a 5-4 win against the visiting Edmonton Oilers on Thursday night.

Charlie Coyle scored a goal and added two assists, Denton Mateychuk and Adam Fantilli also scored and Jet Greaves made 23 saves for the Blue Jackets, who blew a two-goal lead with just under seven minutes remaining in regulation in Edmonton on Monday before losing 5-4 in overtime.

Leon Draisaitl scored two goals, Evan Bouchard had three assists and Calvin Pickard made 20 saves for the Oilers, who were coming off a 2-1 overtime win at the Philadelphia Flyers on Wednesday, their second straight overtime win.

The Blue Jackets hit the post twice before taking a 1-0 lead at 15:36 of the first period. Coyle circled back with the puck above the right circle and flicked a wrist shot at the net that Olivier tipped between the pads of Pickard.

Coyle and Olivier teamed up to score again, 44 seconds into the second period, to extend the lead to 2-0.

Olivier forced a turnover along the wall in the Edmonton zone and drove to the left post before backhanding a pass to Coyle at the far post. He stopped the puck and quickly shot into the net.

Matt Savoie deflected Bouchard’s slap shot into the net to cut it to 2-1 at 8:09 of the second.

Bouchard then set up Draisaitl for a one-timer from the right circle following a faceoff win to tie it 2-2 at 9:49.

Sean Monahan took a slap shot that missed wide, but the carom off the end boards came out to the right circle, and Mateychuk was there to fire the puck into the net, giving Columbus a 3-2 lead at 10:19.

Connor McDavid appeared to score with 8:30 left in the second period to tie it 3-3, but Columbus challenged for offside, which was confirmed after a video review.

Fantilli came out from behind the net to gather in a rebound and pushed it past Pickard to make it 4-2 at 18:20 of the second.

Olivier made it 5-2 at 7:30 of the third off a feed from Coyle, but Vasily Podkolzin answered 27 seconds later to cut it to 5-3.

Draisaitl scored on a wrist shot through Greaves’ pads from the right circle to trim it to 5-4 at 11:27.
