New York Rangers defenseman Adam Fox is heading to the injured reserve list due to an upper-body injury, according to multiple reports on Wednesday.
Fox injured his left shoulder during a third-period fall of Tuesday’s 5-1 victory over the New York Islanders. He grabbed the shoulder as he left the ice.
Reports say Fox will return later in the regular season.
Fox has scored 48 points — including five goals — in 58 games this season, his sixth with the Rangers.
Fox has recorded more than 70 points in each of the previous three seasons and scored a career-best 17 goals a year ago.
One of the top defenders in the NHL, Fox won the Norris Trophy for his play during the 2020-21 season and finished second in 2022-23 among four consecutive top-five finishes.
Fox, who turned 27 earlier this month, has 58 goals and 356 points in 415 career games with New York.
Fellow Rangers defenseman K’Andre Miller also exited Tuesday’s game with a lower-body injury. His status hasn’t yet been updated.
Miller has four goals and 14 points in 52 games this season, his fifth with New York. He has 33 goals and 119 points in 346 career games.
