Super Bowl LVI: Sportsbooks Expect Late Action on Bengals, Over

Joe Burrow

The line for Super Bowl LVI is holding steady with the Los Angeles Rams favored by 4.5 points at most sportsbooks with less than a week until kickoff.

The line opened at 4.0 points at many sportsbooks but quickly nudged up with heavy early action on the Rams. That included at DraftKings, where the Cincinnati Bengals are now being backed by 63 percent of the bets and 53 percent of the spread-line money.

BetMGM opened at 3.5 but the line has also been at 4.5 points there for several days. The Over/Under has inched down to 48.5 points after opening at 49.5.

“Early sharp action has been on the Rams and the under,” Jason Scott, vice president of trading at BetMGM, said on Monday. “As the game gets closer we expect the public will back the Bengals and the over.”

Cincinnati -4.5 points is currently being backed by 56 percent of the bets and 59 percent of the money at the sportsbook. Meanwhile, 56 percent of the bets and 63 percent of the money are supporting the Over.

The market is also at 48.5 points at DraftKings, where the Over has drawn 56 percent of the bets and 54 percent of the money.

QBs Lead MVP Market

Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford holds the shortest MVP odds at +100 at DraftKings and +155 at BetMGM. He is followed by counterpart Joe Burrow (+225 at both).

Burrow leads the way at BetMGM with 19.5 percent of the bets and 30 percent of the money wagered on the MVP market. He’s followed by Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald (+1200) at 13.7 and 17.6 percent, respectively.

That makes Donald the book’s biggest liability ahead of Burrow and Bengals kicker Evan McPherson (+10000).

Los Angeles wide receiver Cooper Kupp has also been a more popular choice, drawing 13.0 percent of the bets at +600. Kupp has been backed by 11.3 percent of the money compared, just behind Stafford at 13.5 percent.
