Philadelphia Eagles first-round pick Nolan Smith signed a four-year, $11.9 million contract on Monday.
His signing puts two former Georgia Bulldogs under contract. The Eagles selected Jalen Carter with the 10th overall pick, and his teammate, Smith, was the 30th overall selection in the 2023 draft. Carter signed his rookie deal earlier this month, and the Eagles have six of their seven draft picks signed before the start of OTAs.
Another Georgia product, defensive back Kelee Ringo, was taken in the fourth round and will be the last of the team’s drafted rookies to sign.
Smith, 22, said last week he didn’t want to miss any time with the team and knew the contract was nearly complete.
“I’m a sponge,” he said. “I’m soaking up everything, learning as much as I can. I know I have a long ways to go to get to where I want to be.”
Smith opened eyes at the NFL Scouting Combine with a blazing 4.39 seconds in the 40-yard dash at 6-foot-2, 235 pounds. A hybrid linebacker and defensive end, the Eagles envision Smith playing a role similar to Haason Reddick. Smith had 11.5 career sacks at Georgia.
