Florida Panthers captain Aleksander Barkov left midway through the first period of Game 3 of the Eastern Conference finals against the Carolina Hurricanes on Monday due to a lower-body injury, and he didn’t return to action.
Panthers coach Paul Maurice said after his team’s 1-0 win in Sunrise, Fla., that he had no update on Barkov’s condition.
Barkov was on the receiving end of a check from Jack Drury. It appeared to be an innocuous-looking hit along the boards, but Barkov left the ice.
Barkov has collected four goals and 12 points in the 15 playoff games this year.
With the victory, the Panthers hold a 3-0 lead in the best-of-seven series.
