WGC-FedEx St. Jude Invitational: Notes, Odds & Best Bets

The WGC-FedEx St. Jude Invitational begins Thursday at TPC Summerlin in Memphis, Tenn.

Fifteen countries are represented in the 66-player field for the final WGC event of the season and only two weeks remain until the start of the FedEx Cup Playoffs.

NOTES

  • TPC Southwind was elevated to a WGC event in 2019 and is a no-cut tournament. The scoring average was 69.554 last year
  • Top-ranked Jon Rahm is not in the field after testing positive for COVID-19. He and Bryson DeChambeau were forced to withdraw from the men’s competition, but DeChambeau has passed his testing protocols and will play this week.
  • The only other top-50 player not in the field is Christiaan Bezuidenhout, who has reached his max of 12 starts as a non-PGA Tour member.
  • Memphis is 14 hours behind Tokyo, with several players traveling from Japan after Sunday’s final round of the Olympic event.

BEST BETS

  • Brooks Koepka (+1100 at DraftKings and PointsBet) has four top-6 finishes in his past five Tour events. He won this event in 2019 and tied for second last year. Koepka is being backed by six percent of the money and four percent of the bets at DraftKings and 5.6 and 3.9 percent, respectively, at PointsBet, second-most at both sportsbooks.
  • Collin Morikawa (+1200) won at The Concession earlier this year to join Tiger Woods as the only players to win a major and a WGC before turning 25 years old. Johnson is the most-backed player at both sportsbooks: 12 percent of the money and seven percent of the bets at DraftKings and 8.9 percent and 5.9 percent at PointsBet.

  • Dustin Johnson (+1800) is a two-time winner of the FedEx St. Jude Classic and has won six career WGC events. He has posted 13 consecutive rounds under part at TPC Southwind.
  • Daniel Berger (+2000) was a two-time winner of the Classic and also finished second last year.
  • Louis Oosthuizen (+2000) has four runner-ups and a T3 in his past eight worldwide starts.
  • Billy Horschel (+7000) won the WGC-Match Play and is being backed by 2.8 percent of the money at PointsBet, tied for third-most with Morikawa.
  • At +4500, Tony Finau is being backed by three percent of the money and bets at DraftKings. Finau is ranked 19th in the world but is seeking his first win since 2016 in Puerto Rico.
