Stacy Lewis has withdrawn from the U.S. Solheim Cup team because of a back injury and will be replaced by first alternate Ally McDonald.
McDonald, 26, already was on site at PGA Centenary Course in Perthshire, Scotland, where the competition will begin on Friday.

Lewis was named to Team USA as one of captain Juli Inkster’s two picks. She is a four-time Solheim Cup participant.
“I’m extremely disappointed not to be able to play. I’m a competitor and I want to play, but I had a back injury flare up last week,” Lewis said. “I’ve done everything I could possibly do over the last week to be ready to play. For my health and what I feel is in the best interest of the team, I decided to take myself out. I will take a different role with the team and will do whatever I can to help Team USA bring the Cup home.”
This will be the first Solheim Cup appearance for McDonald, who in her fourth year on the LPGA Tour. Over the two-year qualifying period, McDonald has 15 top-20 finishes, including at three majors in 2019.
