In the end, USC offered the top recruit in college basketball something Duke, Kentucky and the rest of the college basketball bluebloods couldn’t — family.
Forward Evan Mobley is joining his McDonald’s All-American brother and their father at USC, where Andy Enfield’s program could be on the verge of becoming a powerhouse. Mobley was ranked the No. 1 prospect in college basketball for the 2020 season by ESPN, and No. 2 by USA Today.
“I want to get it out of the way before I start my senior year. And I know where I want to go,” Mobley told ESPN, which ranks him as No. 1 on its ESPN100 list. “As a freshman and sophomore, I wasn’t sure exactly where I was going to go. I was looking for the best fit. But after my junior season, I know that being at USC is the right fit for me.”
Eric Mobley is an assistant coach for the Trojans and Evan Mobley’s brother, Isaiah Mobley, is beginning his freshman year with the Trojans and was a five-star recruit and McDonald’s All-American.
Evan Mobley is a senior in Temecula, Calif., at Rancho Christian School. He played every position on the floor for his team last season and is a two-time Team USA participant.
UCLA and Washington also recruited Evan Mobley heavily, but most of the defined elite programs were convinced early in the process that the Mobleys would join forces at USC.
Evan Mobley was the Gatorade California Player of the Year and was part of both the FIBA U17 and U19 World Cup teams.
