Watson is seeking to join Lloyd Mangrum and MacDonald Smith as the only four-time winners of the event. … Mickelson and Woods are tied for first place with 14 victories in California since 1983. … The event began in 1926 and is the seventh-oldest on Tour.

Ko, the reigning Rookie of the Year, led wire-to-wire last year in joining Beverly Hanson (1951 Eastern Open) as the only players in LPGA Tour history to win in their debut tournaments. … The event has been played since 1974, with the LPGA Tour joining Golf Australia and the ALPGA in 2012 as co-sanctioning partners. … Haru Nomura (2016) won the last time the Women’s Australian Open was held at The Grange, posting a tournament-record score of 272.

This is the 32 annual playing of the event. … Langer is a three-time champion and passed Hale Irwin for first place in career earnings ($27,196,504) on the tour with his victory last week. He has won 16.6 percent (39 wins in 235 starts) on the tour. … Darren Clarke and Retief Goosen are among the players making their debuts in the event. … Since joining the tour in 2017, Steve Stricker owns a 67.87 scoring average and all but two of his 38 rounds have been under par.
