Reports: D-backs lock in OF Corbin Carroll with 8-year deal

Less than seven months after he made his major league debut, the Arizona Diamondbacks moved to lock in promising outfielder Corbin Carroll on Saturday to an eight-year, $111-million contract, according to multiple outlets.

Per reports, the guaranteed deal runs through the 2030 season, with a one-year club option for 2031 available that would take Carroll’s compensation to $134 million. Another $20 million is available in incentives, according to the Arizona Republic.

Carroll, 22, made his debut on Aug. 29 of last season and batted. .260 with an .830 OPS, including four home runs and 14 RBIs, in 32 games with Arizona. In seven Cactus League games this spring before Saturday’s action, he was batting .333 with a .520 OPS that was helped by seven walks.

Carroll, a Seattle native, was a first-round draft pick (16th overall) by Arizona in 2019. He hit a combined 24 home runs with 62 RBIs in 93 minor league games last season over three different levels.
