The Seattle Mariners acquired right-handed pitcher Cody Bolton from the Pittsburgh Pirates in exchange for cash considerations on Thursday.
Bolton, 25, made his major league debut in April and appeared in 16 games out of the bullpen for Pittsburgh. He went 1-0 with a 6.33 ERA, striking out 22 batters and walking 15 over 21 1/3 innings.
The Pirates selected Bolton in the sixth round of the 2017 draft.
The Pirates also had three players claimed off waivers Thursday. The Milwaukee Brewers claimed infielder Vinny Capra, the Cleveland Guardians claimed first baseman/outfielder Alfonso Rivas and the San Diego Padres claimed infielder Tucupita Marcano. Pittsburgh acquired Marcano in a trade with the Padres in July 2021.
